Structural Netting Services

Agricultural netting designed for real farming conditions

Pridham Viticulture designs and installs structural netting systems for vineyards, orchards, olive groves and horticultural properties across South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.

Our systems are planned around the crop, site conditions and practical requirements of the property, helping growers protect production from birds, hail and seasonal weather risks while improving consistency and long-term crop security.

Crop Protection with Structural Netting

Reduce crop losses. Improve consistency. Protect productive assets.

Permanent structural netting can provide long-term protection for vineyards, orchards and horticultural crops exposed to birds, hail and other seasonal risks.

A well-planned netting system can also support more consistent fruit quality, crop forecasting and day-to-day management.

Key benefits Include:

Crop Protection Production Planning
Protection from birds, hail and weather Improved fruit quality and consistency Greater confidence in expected yields
Reduces crop losses More reliable production Improved long-term infrastructure planning
Reduced exposure to seasonal pressures Protection of developing and ripening fruit Greater certainty around harvest planning

Structural Netting Design & Installation

Every netting project starts with understanding the property rather than applying a standard structure to every site.

1. Site assessment – We assess the crop, block layout, terrain, access, existing infrastructure and key production risks.

2. Netting system planning – The structure is planned around your site, crop and operational requirements.

3. Installation – Our crews install the structural netting system with consideration for agricultural access, existing infrastructure and ongoing farm operations.

4. Ongoing support – We can assist with repairs, adjustments and maintenance as the structure and property develop.

Structural Netting Systems

Different crops, properties and production systems require different approaches to structural netting.

Pridham Viticulture installs G2 structural netting systems that can be configured around the crop, block dimensions, machinery requirements and level of protection required.

The appropriate structure will depend on factors including crop type, terrain, hail and bird pressure, existing trellis infrastructure, machinery access and future plans for the property.

Flat Top Structures

A practical and versatile structural netting system for a wide range of horticultural crops.

Flat Top structures provide permanent coverage across the growing area and can be designed to protect crops from birds, hail, excessive sun and other environmental pressures.

Structures can be configured around block dimensions and operating requirements, with options including perimeter walls, vehicle access gates, pedestrian access and seasonal drop-down sections where temporary enclosure is required.

This makes Flat Top structures particularly adaptable for commercial orchards and horticultural properties where long-term crop protection needs to work alongside normal machinery and farm operations.

Key benefits:

  • Broad protection against birds, hail, sun and seasonal risks
  • Suitable for a wide range of horticultural crops
  • Configurable around site layout and machinery access
  • Options for perimeter walls, gates and seasonal drop-down sections
  • Durable infrastructure designed for long-term crop protection

V5 Flat Top & V5 Trellis Release Systems

A flexible structural netting system combining crop protection with seasonal adaptability.

V5 systems incorporate a release and retraction arrangement that provides greater flexibility around when and how netting is deployed.

Depending on the configuration, netting can provide protection during periods of higher hail, bird or sun risk and be retracted when protection is no longer required.

The system can also be integrated with compatible trellis layouts and planned around existing crop rows, machinery and production requirements.

Key benefits:

  • Release system designed to reduce loading during significant hail events
  • Retractable netting for seasonal flexibility
  • Can be configured around machinery and spraying requirements
  • Choice of netting specifications and colours to suit crop requirements
  • Can be integrated with compatible trellis systems
  • Adaptable to different horticultural layouts

V-Trellis Systems

A combined crop-support and netting system suited to intensive and high-density horticultural production.

V-Trellis systems use an angled “V” growing layout to support crop development while making efficient use of the available growing area.

The trellis provides structural crop support while integrated netting can provide protection from birds, hail and excessive sun.

This type of system can suit production models where plant density, canopy positioning and efficient use of growing space are important considerations.

Key benefits:

  • Suitable for high-density and intensive planting systems
  • Combines crop support and protective netting within one structure
  • Helps make efficient use of available growing area
  • Protection from birds, hail and excessive sun
  • Low-tension structural configuration
  • Can be designed around individual crop and production requirements

Agricultural Netting Applications

Structural netting for commercial, agricultural and residential properties.

We design and install netting systems for a range of applications, including:

  • Orchards and tree crops
  • Commercial horticultural properties
  • Vineyards

Systems can be designed around individual blocks, existing infrastructure, machinery access and the way the property needs to operate throughout the season.

Why Agricultural Experience Matters

Pridham Viticulture is a family-owned agricultural business based in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Our work extends across vineyard management, olive production, irrigation, land management and structural netting.

That broader experience means we consider how a netting structure will work as part of the property as a whole — including machinery access, irrigation infrastructure, crop management, labour requirements and future maintenance.

Is Structural Netting Right for Your Property?

Structural netting is a significant infrastructure investment, so it is worth understanding both the production risk and the likely long-term benefit before committing to a project.

We can help you consider:

  • Current and expected crop losses
  • Area and cost per hectare
  • Netting system configuration
  • Installation timing
  • Machinery and operational access
  • Existing irrigation and infrastructure
  • Expected lifespan and maintenance requirements
  • Long-term value of the infrastructure

Discuss Your Structural Netting Project

Every property presents different crops, terrain, infrastructure and production risks.

If you are considering structural netting for a vineyard, orchard, olive grove or horticultural property in South Australia, we can assess the site and discuss the most practical options for your operation.
